In order to get an Extended Validation (EV) Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) certificate, Certificate Authorities (CA) such as GoDaddy or VeriSign will need to verify certain business information that proves you are a legitimate business. If they aren't able to do that on their own, or your business is younger than three years, they may ask that you get an independent certified public accountant (CPA) to verify it on their behalf.
